Obituary of Frank Walter Ignatowski

Frank Walter Ignatowski, Jr., age 82, beloved husband of Effie Mae Pedbereznak Ignatowski of Seymour, died peacefully on October 6, 2017 at the West Haven VA Medical Center, surrounded by his family.  Born in Derby on January 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Frances Dudginski Ignatowski, Sr.  Mr. Ignatowski was raised in Shelton, a graduate of Shelton High School and was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.  He worked as a mill wright and laboratory technician for the Uniroyal Chemical Co. for 35 years; he was then employed at Life Touch Studios for several years, until the time of his retirement. Mr. Ignatowski studied at Post College & the Paier College of Art and worked as a professional photographer. Mr. Ignatowski was an avid gardener, cultivating his backyard garden into an organic resource of fruits and vegetables that he freely shared with friends and neighbors.  He enjoyed listening to “old time” radio, amassed a colossal stamp collection and parlayed his experience as a photographer into an imaginative hobby. In addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Chris M. Ignatowski of Seymour, Brian A. (Susan) Ignatowski of Burlington and Traci L. (Eric) Visselli of CA and Tyler J. (Julia) Ignatowski of FL; cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Justin Ignatowski; Kyle, Alex and Zachary Visselli; and Julian Ignatowski; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sisters, Regina Bytautas and Dorothy Cross.  Funeral Services will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby, Ave., Derby.  Interment will follow with Military Honors in Mt.
